FSL: Common Errors and Solutions

Console Errors

 kCGErrorRangeCheck : Window Server communications from outside of session allowed for root and console user only
 INIT_Processeses(), could not establish the default connection to the WindowServer.

This error most commonly occurs for one of two reasons

  • Attempting to run FslView on miles via the terminal (this is impossible)
  • With FSL 4+, under Misc settings in FEAT, Progress watcher is enabled and you are running fsl on miles. This attempts to run a browser (usually safari) over the terminal which is not possible.

FSLView Won't Run on Miles

It is impossible to run fslview over a network. This is an inherent and insurmountable issue. fslview will never run on miles for the foreseeable future. However, you can copy the FslView.app from miles to your desktop and it'll run well.
