Encryption Policy
Outlined here:
• All faculty, fellows, residents, students, volunteers and staff • All mobile devices – laptops; tablets, mobile phones • All removable media -- external hard drives; USB flash drives • Non-University-owned devices • Devices issued by UCLA Health or DGSOM • All devices WHETHER OR NOT they are used to access restricted information • Any mobile device used for any University business

Recommend using Bitlocker Drive Encryption (Built into Windows Vista and later+)

Recommend using File Vault Encryption (Built into Mac OSX)

Other encryption programs are suggested here.
USB/External Device
Highly recommend going to Encryption Fair or your local IT for encryption
Mobile Device
Mobile phone need to have AirWatch installed, if eligible.
To check if you are eligible:
If the user is non-exempt (e.g. hourly pay status/bi-weekly pay), then they are not eligible for Airwatch unless approved by HR. If the user is exempt (paid monthly), then they are eligible and should go to the encryption fair starting on Monday for help on downloading and installing Airwatch. Users also MUST have an AD account.
Pin/Pattern Code Screen Lock is not enough (though highly recommended!) Please Install AirWatch at the Encryption Fairs
