This is a template for Agatha's audio-visual experiment (AVTask), an EEG-fMRI experiment.

Prior to Scan Day

  • Recruiting
    • Check hair type, notify about clean hair
    • Check vision, contacts
    • Check body size, claustrophobia
  • Few Days Ahead
    • Send out screening, consent, demographics, info forms
    • Schedule pump shutdown (contact Edward)
  • Night Before
    • Ensure amp is charging + PMU
    • Verify nets and supplies

Pre-Scan

EEG Suite

  • Consent, screening, de-metalling
  • Task Training, simultaneously prepare EEG/EKG
  • Bathroom break
  • Apply EEG net and EKG leads

  • Impedence check outside scanner
  • Earplugs
  • Apply Spandage bands/shower cap

Console

Scanner room

Scans

TIME: 40 min outside scanner + 1 hr 3 min to 1 hr 13 min in scanner ~ 2 hrs total. AIM for 1 hr 15 min fMRI time slot

  • 5 minutes
    • Run localizer
    • Run MBW
  • 35 minutes
    • Turn OFF cold head (contact Edward)
    • 6.5 min EPI mini-block scan
    • 6.5 min EPI mini-block scan 2
    • 6.5 min EPI continuous scan 1
    • 6.5 min EPI continuous scan 2
    • 6.5 min REST scan
    • Turn ON cold head (contact Edward)
  • 18 minutes
    • 8 min MPRAGE and/or 3 min T2Space

Post-scan

  • Pay/credit and debrief subject
  • Put away all cabling delicately/neatly
  • Clean/disinfect/rinse EEG cap
  • Wipe down everything with alcohol (except glasses)
  • Straighten out wires in EEG cap before drying net
  • Report bad electrodes in log
  • Burn/move data
  • Compress and copy EEG files
  • Copy behavioral files
  • Paperwork - consent forms, screenings, etc.
